Importance of Childhood Immunizations

It’s crucial to stay up to date with your child’s immunization records, because any delay or missed vaccines could put your child at risk for infections, such as measles, pertussis, pneumonia, and many more.

Ottawa Public Health is responsible for assessing and ensuring that your child’s immunizations are up to date according to Ontario’s schedule. If Ottawa Public Health is unable to verify the immunization record of your child, you will receive a “Notice of Incomplete Immunization Record.” If these records are not kept up to date, your child may not be able to attend school until there is a medical clearance or an up-to-date immunization record.

Ontario’s Publicly Funded Immunization Program

The following vaccines are free under Ontario’s Public Funded immunization program. The only fees associated with receiving your immunizations at Ottawa Health: Performance and Rehabilitation is the appointment fee of $65 to see our Nurse Practitioner. The cost of the vaccine is completely free as part of the Ontario immunization program. The Shingles vaccine Shingrix is free for those between 65-70.
