FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Physiotherapy and Chiropractor Downtown Ottawa FAQs

What’s the Difference Between Physiotherapy & Chiropractic Care?

Physiotherapy and chiropractic care both focus on relieving pain and restoring function, but they approach treatment differently. Physiotherapists use movement-based therapies, exercise prescription, and manual techniques to improve mobility and strength.

Chiropractors focus more on the spine and nervous system, often using joint manipulation to restore function and relieve pressure. At Ottawa Health: Performance and Rehabilitation, we integrate both disciplines to create personalized care plans that address the root of your issue from multiple angles.

The timeline for results depends on your specific condition, severity, and how consistently you follow your treatment plan. Some clients feel relief after just one or two sessions, while others may require several weeks of care.

Our team will set clear goals and regularly reassess your progress to make sure your treatment is working effectively. The key is consistency and open communication with your therapist or chiropractor.

No, a doctor’s referral is not required to book an appointment for physiotherapy or chiropractic care at Ottawa Health: Performance and Rehabilitation. You can contact us directly to schedule a consultation. However, some extended health insurance plans may require a referral for reimbursement, so it’s best to check with your provider.
Your first visit starts with a detailed consultation where we review your medical history, lifestyle, and current concerns. From there, your therapist or chiropractor performs a physical assessment to evaluate posture, movement, joint mobility, and any signs of dysfunction. Based on this, we create a personalized treatment plan and may begin treatment on the same day. You’ll also receive education on what’s happening in your body and how we plan to help. It’s a collaborative process with plenty of time for questions and comfort.
